Shoei-supported Avalon Lewis to Compete in World Women’s Motorcycling Championship in Italy

21 August, 2024 —Kiwi motorcycle racer, Avalon Lewis (nee Biddle) is set to compete in the next round of the Women’s World Circuit Racing Championship in Italy. As a seasoned competitor and former European Women’s Cup Champion, Lewis’ return to the global stage is an exciting prospect for the motorcycling community down under.

Round Four of the inaugural world Championship for women will take place at Cremona circuit. The championship sees the world’s best female riders go head-to-head on equal Yamaha R7 machinery at select World Superbike events throughout 2024. Lewis’ participation is particularly noteworthy as she has is returning to racing after having some time off due to the arrival of her first child, Nash.

With the support of MTF Finance and Carl Cox Motorsport, Avalon is thrilled to have this opportunity to compete. She also has full support from many former top level competitors, including ex-World Superbike racer, Aaron Slight.

“I’m incredibly excited to be competing in the next round of the World Women’s Motorcycling Championship,” said Biddle. “Italy holds a special place in my heart and I’m so grateful to my close supporters and family who have rallied around and made this event possible”.

“I’m looking forward to giving it my all against some of the best riders in the world. With a few rounds under their belt and some track time at this circuit already, these women are very competitive. I’ll only have limited seat time on a R7 in New Zealand before heading over, so the first day is going to be very important for me to learn the bike and circuit quickly.

I’d love to do the full championship and compete for a world title, which is a new opportunity for women in circuit racing, but for now I must be realistic and simply make the most of this chance to race the event in Italy.”

Biddle’s career has been marked by numerous accolades, including winning the European Womens Cup and the 2019 New Zealand Supersport 600 championship. Her dedication to the sport and commitment to excellence have made her a formidable competitor and a role model for aspiring female athletes.

As she gears up for the event, Biddle has been training hard and making best use of her time to hone her skills. With a strong team behind her and a wealth of experience, she is poised to make a significant impact in Italy.

This venture is made possible with support from: MTF Finance, Carl Cox Motorsport, Aaron Slight, Ken Dobson, Bev Ward, RST, Shoei helmets & Xpress Racewear.
